The British film “Scraper” directed by Charlotte Rangan also won the Grand Jury Prize in the world cinema category
The US Grand Jury Prize in the Documentary category was awarded to Joe Brutser and Michelle Stenson for “Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project” and “Eternal Memory” by Matt Alberdi from Chile won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize in the Documentary category
Sundance Institute CEO Joana Vicente called this year’s selection of winners “a sense of urgency and commitment to independent film excellence.”
The audience’s choice awards were given to Maryam Keshavarz for “Iranian version” in the competitive American drama section, Madeline Gwin with “Behind Utopia” in the American documentary section, Mastilaf Cheronov with “20 Days in Mariupol” in the Jahan Cinema documentary section and Nora Niasari with “Shida”. It reached the drama section of the world cinema
Maryam Keshavarz also won an award in the scriptwriting section of the American drama
This year’s festival started on January 19 (December 29) and continues until Sunday January 29 (Bahman 9). This year, a total of 111 feature films and 64 short films out of more than 15,000 films sent to the festival were screened in this event, and more than 75% of the presented works will be available on the festival’s online platform until Sunday
