According to Centercinemapress, quoted by Variety, filming of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s new movie starring Tom Cruise will start in the UK early next month
The as-yet-untitled project is Iñárritu’s first English-language film since “Back From The Grave.” In addition to directing, he is also in charge of producing the film, and he is making his film based on the script he wrote in 2023 with Nicolas Giacobon and Alexander Dinlaris, the writers of “Birdman”
While no news has been released about the subject of the film, Sandra Holler, John Goodman, Michael Stahlberg, Jesse Plemons and Sophie Wilde are said to be among the other actors in this film
This is Cruise’s first film since signing a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery in January. His last project with this studio was “Edge of Tomorrow” a decade ago
Cruise was seen in 2023’s “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” and the eighth “Mission: Impossible” film will be his next for Paramount. He is also starring in an action film directed by Doug Liman for Universal that will mark him as the first civilian to walk outside the International Space Station
Iñárritu won 2 Oscars in a row for directing “Wind Man” in 2015 and “Back from the Grave” in 2016. He then made Flesh and Sand in 2017, a virtual reality short film about immigrants crossing the US-Mexico border accompanied by a coyote. This project was shown for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 and in 2018 it won a special Oscar for its achievement in the virtual field.
